Welcom to the Bolt!! On all the Advanced Design trucks they were black. You will see a lot of trucks with matching boards which looks nice but if your going for accuracy, you need them black. cool

Welcome gmman4! You'll learn a lot here from these people, I know I have! Also, use the search feature at the top of this page, you will learn a lot more! Just get comfortable & prepare for a bunch of reading grin Now for the important part, PICS, we like PICS! Let's see what that 1st series looks like! Again, welcome. Ed

She's one 55 year old with a spare tire that looks good!

Are you sure? I thought that I read that they were originally body colored. I actually prefer the black running boards and intend to go that way right or wrong on my 54.

The standard color for A-D running boards was black. I think in 54/55 there were options for wheels painted body color and wheels/running-boards painted body color (but, I cannot find any documentation of this). Maybe the various two-tone exterior options at the end of '54 had body-colored running boards?

GMMAN4 WELCOME TO THE BOLT. "Come on down" and pick a door. Behind each door (The Virtual Garage, The Lounge, Clinics, The Swap Meet, and the Archives) you can find help in your project.
And oh yeah, running boards were all black.
