My mother has 1954 Chevrolet 6400 18' bobtail "moving van converted into darkroom/office" truck built by Truko, Truck Bodies Co, Los Angeles in her garage in La Verne California that we are trying to get a value on and find a good home. My father pickled it for long term storage right before he passed away in 1987 and we have his log of repair/maintenance. It has 113,666 miles on odometer and engine was replaced in 1972. Truck has sat in a garage since 1984. So far we have gotten to wizzing engine over and replacing radiator, but we have not actually started it or bled the brake lines. Any advice or suggestions appreciated as we would like to find a place for it.

welcome to the 'bolt.... there might be someone here looking for that sort of truck...

if you want to sell it, put an ad in the "swapmeet" section...

Your mother must have a pretty big garage!

My advice is to pull it out in the driveway, give it a bath, take lots of pictures, and stick it on eBay.

The 'big bolts' aren't normally in as high a demand as the 1/2 ton trucks, but since it has the custom body on it, it might strike somebodies interest.

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

Also, give yourself plenty of time to sell it.

The big bolts take longer to sell as there is a smaller market for them.

This is an extremely visual group. The very first thing you need to do it take pictures. Lots of pictures. Get details. Then post them on a photo sharing site like Picasa. Then simply paste the link to the photos in the classified ads here. You may also want to make a post of the pictures just for the viewing interest on the forum. Someone may well be interested in buying it from you. Good luck. Looking forward to those pix.
