I have always really liked dual spotlights, and I have a matching pair from about the same year that I'd like to maybe install. Now, my '63 has the wrap-around windshield, so if I just stuck it in the pillar, they'd obviously be too far back. It looks like the place I'd need to mount them is in the metal piece between the windshield and the door, with the handles poking through the dashboard. Any thoughts (other than "I hate spotlights, don't do it," I get enough of that from my wife :p ) on how this could be achieved in this kind of truck? Thanks. | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 | Unity spotlights have templates in the installation kit that show proper placement. I'll look into the Unity templates. Hogy--do you think you could post a picture of your spotlight inside and out? | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 719 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 719 | Rev> When you buy the kit from Unity, it comes with the correct mount for your vehicle. It also comes with a guide bushing so that you can use the mount as a drill guide. Once you have your holes, you pop out the bushing, instal the light, set the angle, and wire it. Pretty simple operation really. 1956 GMC 370 dump " 'Tater "1970 VW Volksrod "the Black Bomber" 2007 Chevy Avalanche 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, 2005 Harley Davidson FLHTCUI I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Thanks for the heads up on the Unity install kits!! | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 1,552 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 1,552 | I had a '66 Chevy C20 with a factory Unity spotlight on the drivers side A pillar. The handle came out a few inches above the dash. I would like to have a new Unity spotlight, if somone has a link to their website. Good luck with your install.

They were $125 each...I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money. I wish I had them, but there's soooo much other stuff I need for my truck! It looked like they run through the wrap-around part of the dash board (at least on the wrap-around cabs), and come through the body at the filler panel between glass and front fender. Good to know that Unity is still selling the brackets and templates! At some point, I'll add them to my '62 Suburban. They'd make a nice addition to a truck that's going to be used to tow a race car. -Brad SOUTHERN FALL GABfestOctober 6 ~ Commerce, Georgia Details here!Never Pee on an Electric Fence. | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 339 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 339 | Revoh, Take a peep at My 52...I installed the 5 inch Unity spotlights...I also have a set of 5 inch fog lights to go on Yet...The installation of the spotlights is very easy...Only one wire which goes to hot side of ignition, and it complete. Bill B | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 719 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 719 | Keep an eye on Ebay, they come & go all the time for MUCH less than $125 bones (Guy must need money for the dope he's been smokin). I picekd up two VERY rare dual head spots (Red flasher on one side, spot on other) and a regular teardrop spot for about $30 each. Just do a broad range search for spotlights in Ebay motors, alot of them are miscategorized. The install kit I bought new direct from Unity at www.unityusa.com/ They also sell new vintage light assemblies for cars and trucks, in 12 & 6V too.
