The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area General Truck Talk Windshield Wiper Setup on 1937

I was looking at my winshield wiper setup tonight and I have a round thingamajiggy and somehow the windshild wiper is supposed to attach to it. I've looked in Jim Carters and Chevs of the forties but cant seem to see how this setup attaches. When I turn the windshield wipers on the round thing turns. Sounds confusing but I'm just not that familiar with this. Any help on seeing how these are supposed to attach would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That round thingy is splined. The inside of the wiper head, at the top of the wiper, is also splined. It slips onto the head. You have to turn it to the correct position for it to properly be aligned to wipe across the windshield. The arm is spring loaded to force a slight amount of pressure to keep the rubber blade against the windshield glass.

By the way - if you need a refil for a 1937 or 1938 wiper arm, a F@*d Aero mini-van blade will work if slightly trimmed.
