Note that the artifacts on the silver stripe are just camera glare and not defects in the paint job. Finally, it seems that this project is coming together. I'm stoked! It looks absolutely georgeous!!! You've got me even more excited about seeing my truck when it finally comes back from paint -- and it *just* left! I love the colors you picked!

Always get a 2nd opinion, especially if I am the source of the 1st opinion.

I have also been working on my 46 cab for a few months trying to get it ready for paint. But a little hesitant on removing the cab. How hard was it to remove the cab from the frame? How did you do it? Did you have to cut any of the cab mount bolts and did you remove the steering wheel, brake and clutch pedals. I have already removed the gas tank, doors, rear window ,wiring etc. Any suggestions and any ideas would be appreciated. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 553 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 553 | Wow! That cab is truly a piece of art. Even underneath! And it's way shiny. I like it alot!! The color that you picked was originally my first choice that I wanted to paint on mine. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 700 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 700 | cvett -- not too difficult really as there are only 8 bolts. A die grinder or torch may be necessary to get at few of the more difficult ones. I would suggest you remove the cab for not only ease of work but to also allow you to get at all of the difficult areas. The cab mount set can be found at all of the catalog guys and includes new wood mounts, rubber, nuts and bolts. Interestingly, the kit I obtained from Obsolete Chevy had mismatched nuts and bolts, and instead of the correct slotted Marsden style nuts it had nylok nuts.
