I own a 59 shortbox Stepside that is mostly stock. It is in very good condition having only been modified with a 3spOD vintage tranny. This truck will remain as stock as possible and most likely be passed down to family some day.

Last summer I purchased a 59 Short Fleetside BBW, deluxe cab. It is sitting on a 79 Blazer 4x4 frame. Since it is not original I am considering replacing the 350 with a 6.2 deisel from my father in laws Suburban. My son is currently building a waste veg oil processor for fueling his Samurai (VW deisel) and home heating fuel. So this creates the possibility of putting a waste veg oil tank and heater system in the Fleetside. It would certainly be a unique conversion. Any thoughts?

The thought of swapping in a 6.2L diesel seriously occurred to me a while back when I discovered you can get them for really low amounts thanks to our armed forces replacing all the ones in Hummers. Still haven't totally killed the idea yet either.

Sounds like a good idea. The mounting & exhaust systems are almost identical. The only drawback is it,s pretty heavy. You should get great fuel mileage & save money by useing waist bio-fuel.
