i got a 1962 GMC dually truck short wheel base has 351D-V-6 granny 4 spd 5.13 gear's 8-19.5's i'm told it's a C-40.
I thought it was a one ton but the 1 ton's had 17.5's..it's bigger than a 1 ton's smaller than the 1.5ton's i've seen ?

My 1958 1 ton has different engine (of course), same granny 4 speed, 5.13 gears, 8-19.5's (and these tires are a very desirable option by the way).

People see those big tires and think it's bigger. It's not, just a heck of a stout 1 ton. I don't know if that engine is stock for the GMC or not. Ask the 6066 GMC Guy. However, the 5.13 gear IS indicative that it is a 1 ton.

It could very well be a C40. GM did use the same sheetmetal from 10-40 from at least '60-'72. One way to tell for sure is to count the number of luggs on the wheels. A C30 will be 8 lug front and rear, the C40 will be 5 lug in front and 10 lug in the rear.
The 351 engine is a possible givaway, too. The 10-30 trucks only had the 305 as the sole engine, the 351 was only used in 1 1/2 ton and larger.
Can you post a picture? That'll really help with the ID.

they have all discontinued my tire's all i can get 8-19.5 are steer tire's yuck... the radail's suck too best i found are the discontinued G171 goodyear's i got last 6 over stock in that size if you guy's could keep an eye out for some 8-19.5 Mud tire's snow tire's anything the is aggressive . . .
such as Firestone super all traction's.
General super all grip's.
Good year custom extra grip's.
Dry riot wheather checked as long as the center lug's a 1/4th of an inch deep. i want on set of 6 for show tires to be mounted on ALuminium rim's even if i got tube them to get them to hold air they only gotta hold up the rig while it's parked at the show's... them ****ty highway radail's will be good enough for driving but not showing i need the lugger's...

It's been in the family . it was bought at a county equipment auvtion in 1976 with 28,000 mile's on it so if the engine was replaced it was done with very few mile's on it.It's an AMSOIL baby sence the late 90's. . . it get's asmoil sea60W engine oil and 80w-140 gear lube in the Tranny, transfer case, and diff's. . .

it could be a replacement engine but i'm doubting it .

That's the tire I plan on getting for the rear of mine. Good beefy mud lugs.

NICE 58 ! BY THE WAY ARE THEM GOOD YEAR CUSTOM EXTRA GRIP'S ? ? ?

there are a few no name tire's that look similar all they say is Premium traction and the other say's super traction. . . How much tread you got on the rear's i'll buy them ! i need just the 2 best but i'll take all 4. . .

ASnywho the G171's are discontinued tre so i would get them very very soon.
