does anyone know of any good salvage yards that handle late 30's parts , in WI or MN or IL or MI ?

Might try Bridley'auto salvage in Glenville, MN. He's got a lot of stuff there from the 60's on back.

Maybe you should swap brands smile NO talk to the owner, because he knows all the other yards around and even the vehicles that are still in private yards.
