Peter:
I think rails (stakes) look great. I plan on adding some to mine some day. There are pictures somewhere here, I just don't know where.

A friend of mine made mine up - real nice! Still have to do the back of the bed - I'm planning on routing in a third brake light into one of the back rails.

I like the look of rails. I came across a site with some info on rail systems. I like the "lock" for the rear rail. These are taller than most, but they could be made any height. Here is the link.

You have a nice looking truck already.

I like the way the 3 rails step down towards the back, like Larry's truck has. I always thought, if I put rails on my truck, that's the style I would do.

I believe those were factory options, I know the stake bed was. I wonder if there is a factory spec. sheet on them.

I just scabbed mine together out of 2x2's for the posts and 2x4's for the rails. I left the 2x2's long, and stuck them in the pockets. I then measured from the top of the rail to where I wanted it, and screwed 2x4's to the 2x2's with deck screws, level all the way around. Then I trimmed off the top of the 2x2's at a slight angle so they shed water. I never bothered to paint the boards, my truck bed is functional but not pretty.
