I want to change it to the older 47 style larger glass with no vent. If I take out the vent frame will the door glass of a 47 fit in that 51 door and will the window regulator work or will it have to be changed??? I know the glass channel will have to be ran all around the window opening but is that as easy as it sounds or not?? It seems that the doors are the same except for the vent frame but I am not sure what else has to be done. thanks!! slowgoer

Changing doors is probably easier.

Its pretty much boiled down to.......... easiest and cost effective,,switch the doors. Look up "Tony" and ask him because he has done this. | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 111 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 111 | Thanks for the info. It sounds like I should forget about changing to the other window glass but that brings up another problem. The vent window frames I have do not have the studs that the vent window handles attach to. Is there a replacement stud made to put back in my frames or will the whole frame have to be changed. Thanks again slowgoer

He installed new handles and I didn't understand how it was done. There are replacements but I don't know how they work. If you have a spare frame or two with the handles, you can drill out the rivets and install them in your frame. | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 513 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 513 | i think swithing out the doors is the best bet 1949 Chevy 3600 Flatbed all orginal 1964 gmc 4000 1973 gmc 6000 2005 chevy duramax 4x4 1994 chevy 1500 Trucks are GM and Tractors are Orange "I don't measure a man's success by how high he climbs but how high he bounces when he hits bottom." - General George S. If that cammed stud is missing then you may want to get replacement frames. I have one on the parts pile. Send me a PM and it is yours for the cost of shipping. The handle is held onto this stud with a drift pin which is easily punched out with a finish nail most times. | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,952 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,952 | Glass is different, regulators are different and the sheet metal make-up of the doors is different where the glass and vent window are. Easier to change doors as was mentioned. | | |
