can someone please tell me if 46-54 Chevy hoods the same? Are the name plates the only difference between Chevy and GMC? THANKS I;m still ,learning

Chevy and GMC are not interchangeable. The leading edge is quite a bit different.

As for year to year differences I am not aware of any beyond holes for badges, but don't really know.

46-47 first series hoods are not the same as the late 47 - 54 hoods the 46's are a 4 piece hood hinged in the center and at each lower hood side.

hoods and front ends are different, the gmc has a kind of wrap around the grill in the front, and the chhevy sits a little flatter

The hoods for the Chevy 47-55.1 are fit and functionally the same. The front and side emblem mountings differ.

GMC and Chevy hoods are not interchangable.
