The other day I climbed under the truck and measured the existing tranny it is about 7 in shorter than the OD unit, so I'll have to shorten the stock open drive shaft. The existing drive shaft is a two section set-up with a spport ring holding it up. My question is if I shorten the drive shaft the angle at which the drive shaft passes through the support ring will change slightly --- will this be a problem or is there enough flexibility in the u-joint to handle it?

It's good you are thinking about this now rather than after it's all done. What kind of 3sp OD trannie did you buy? Seems a little odd to me. Most ODs are 4sp, unless they are an aux trannie, in which case it wouldn't have a reverse. Just wondering. Thanks. Mike | | |

I bought a early 60's vintage saginaw box with the R10h warner OD. A link to a website would be great or just anybody's experience putting one of these trannys into a 3/4 ton.
