old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Iam usally in the bodyshop. Here is my question .I have a original 63 gmc 920 napco with 56000 miles, purchased from (well sorta the first owner),the cab is very rusted on the bottom,I mean it's shot!! I have all of the parts and I do own a bodyshop, but find it very hard to get the time to work on my own stuff. In my travels I found a mint I mean perfect 61 chev apache fire truck with 13000 miles ,stored indoors.I know there will be a bit of fab work to make the 61 cab mounts work but nowhere near as much as needs to be done to the sixty three cab floor, rockers, inner, outer, cab corners, lower hinge pillar,.The thing is I like the chev dash better and love the big old apache hood.I could turn it into a 61 apache napco but!!!!!!!! now it's not original After all I am planning on using her daily not showing or selling, but Ialso don't want a frankenstein machine ! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | where are you on the Island Bent? you know about the coming gathering in Vic ? when it comes to time, what's possible is what's best - I prefer the Chev dash myself, and even drive a Frankentruck seems a shame tho' to part up a 13,000 mi original, I'd think some looking might find a good cab, tho' I know the 60's haven't survived well on the Island ... other than that, I don't think there'd be any noticeable problems with that combo Bill | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | Bent: Don't know anything about fire truck but I've been to Vic island twice. Do you know how lucky you are to live there in the summer?

Could you tell us more about the fire truck, like what running gear does it have? Thanks | | |
