i have a glass bowl fuel filter made by durex and is minus the filter element, what do i do, i would like to use this item on my 261 inline six that is being rebuilt.

I think that it probable had a stone element and a spring in it, but am unsure and i've seen on chevyduty that they sale a paper element for a glass bowl filter that looks like mine...

I'm sure you can find that paper element at the local auto parts. I found it in the Danchuk catalog. These guys specialize in 55,56 & 57 passenger cars but their illustrated catalog is better than the GM original. This item should also be on their website www.danchuk.com.

yeah, originally those were the permanent inserts, but most folks switch to the disposable paper - just take it to your local and find one to fit ... worked for me

I bought one about a year ago at one of my local O'Reilly's Auto Parts Stores. It's a Wix brand filter part number: 33034. I don't remember what it cost, but it must not have cost a whole lot since I bought a spare.

I also went to my local Ace Hardware store and bought some of those little magnets to put in the bowl, too, to catch the chunks of metal that is found in so much of todays gas.
They may not be necessary, but the old one had some magnets on it so I thought for that vintage look I'd go with the magnets.
