on my 63 4x4 i have 36's, the rear stepside fenders are about and inch off the tire in the front of these rear fenders, i have thought about body lift/ tubbing/ shaving, but would like to keep truck stock look, a three inch body looks good as far as distice off the tires, but i don't want to put a three inch body lift all the way around truck, i am not real wild about shaving anything, and tubbing seems like alot of work. the 36's fit under the front just fine, and i like the look, so i prefer to keep them does anyone have ideas/imput?

How wide are the tires? Remember, the K series trucks were the second generation of the "High-Boy" look, and tall, skinny, traction tires are what they were meant to have. My first instinct is to say that 36's shouldn't be too big a problem as long as they aren't really wide...If they are really wide, then you don't have many options. Gotta get your travel somehow, and obviously an inch of clearance aint gonna cut it. One good bounce, and you'll have some new fender work to do...

If you wanna go to aftermarket wheels you can buy them with different backspacing. On my 55 2nd I had to get wheels with 5 inch backspacing to clear the fenders.Course I am running wide tires too.I found a set of Chrome Corvette Ralleyes at Summit racing. They have a very good selection of wheels.

the tires are 12.5 wide, they look good under the truck the stance looks good would it look funny to put 3 inch body lift under bed and not the cab/front clip thanks mike

You wouldn't do a body lift, just put three inch higher blocks between the axle and rear springs, assuming leafs. You could just jack the back of the frame up three inches to see if you like the look and have adequate clearance.

I think a bed lift alone would look bad. Body lifts are generally not a good idea. Having said that, I did make a 3" cab lift for my truck to help clear my transmission. I used 2" X 3" tube with 1/4" wall. I'm pretty sure it will be as strong as if the cab were bolted where it was supposed to be.
