The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area General Truck Talk Brake booster or not?

I have a 60 C-10 and am looking at putting on disc front brakes and keeping drums in rear. I am running a manual tranny which means the hydraulic clutch. I am trying to decide if I need the power booster and if so would the small diaphragm unit provide enough power with my 235? Or should I keep it simple and use a manual master cylinder. I am trying to have clearance for a small clutch master cylinder next to the brakes to keep from changing out the bellhousing and all that stuff. Thanks!

Hy Tudorman, I personally would not consider a change to disc brakes without a booster, plus if you retain your single system you will need to install a pressure reducing valve in the line to the rear to prevent the rears from locking up, the discs require much more pressure than the drums, hope that helps.
