Hi All,

Does anyone know what the differences between a 55-59 Chevy or GMC frame, 1/2 vs 3/4 ton for the long wheelbase?

I have a 56 GMC 1/2 ton, 8 foot bed frame from a parts truck in decent shape and a 56 Chevy 3/4 ton project truck frame that some torch-happy person had their way with. ohwell I was think about swapping them out. Thanks

for the same year I think you'll find some differences Chev vs GMC around the front crossmember, as the GMC had a different engine mount setup ... between 1/2 and 3/4 there will be different springing, so maybe different mount points

if you've got both at hand, just put'em side by each and start comparing, with your plans in mind re winding up with a 1/2 or 3/4 and what engine you'll use

Thanks. Right now they are at 2 different storage yards. Most of the parts I've been collecting are for the 3/4 ton and I have a rebuilt stock 235/4 speed driveline out of a 58 chevy PU.

might hafta make some changes to the GMC frame to mount that 235, but should be do-able with stuff from the Chevy
