I am unable to find any info on who manufactures and sells adapters to change 6 lug to 5 lug. Maybe no one, but I have seen in a few topics some members mentioning them. Am I crazy for wanting to go this route? My stock burb is driven for pleasure and I want a set of radials on some custom wheel for alternate look. The ones that I like are 5 lug. Any help, advice? Thanks!!!

Use early 50s Chevy passenger car front hubs and brake drums, and redrill your rear axles. Or, convert the front to disks using the 5 lug rotors, and redrill your rear axles. Or, change your rear axle to a later model with 5 lugs.

I had some years ago on my 552 no more they got loose and one of the front broke off the lugs and the wheel came off lucky i going a low speed and the wheel and tire bounced off a house ....on the front more so the turning i guess put a lot of stress on them car drums from a 50 are so will work with the bearnings but where are you going to find them any more ..me i would just have them all drilled to what you want .if you don't want to run the 6 hole pattern there is some nice six hole wheels out there that will fit i am sure i just don't what they are ..i did a sub frame and rear end job on mine but of course thats a over kill just get five lugs !!!

Wheel adaptors got a bad wrap years ago when they were cast aluminum, and suitable for only VW type vehicles. The newer versions are not without limitations....pretty pricey and they're going to push your wheels out appreciably. You can compensate for that by modifying your choice of rim back spacing. Thanks for the input everyone. I now think that I should just go for the real deal and change the front drums and drill the rear axles. Nuttin like doin it the right way! Thanks Smitty
