My '58 3/4 ton has the same e-brake lever as my '59 1/2 ton, under the dash, left of steering column. I looked at what I was told was a '59 3/4 tom that was for sale (the metal tags with GVW and VIN were not readable). The e-brake lever was on the right of the gear shift lever. Is this correct with a 3/4 ton in '59 or is this truck most likely actually a 1 ton??

do the fender spears say 36 or 38? is the WB 123 or 135? there was a range of GVWs possible, and with the double [overload] spring pak in back it could be a heavy duty 3600 if 123" WB, but would be a 3800 if 135"

the under dash brake was standard on either a 3 or 4spd, but the floor mounted brake would only be on a 4spd, and that may have been an option on a 3600

Not sure how it works with the later trucks, but it's my experience with the '41 thru '53 trucks that there is little difference between the 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks in regards to location of the eBrake lever or other largely 'cosmetic' things.

From a quick glance at the TechTips section here on the bolt, it looks like in '58 and '59 they only made one kind of 1 ton truck.. it had a 135" wheel base.

If the VIN/Serial number is unreadable, that might be your only real clue.. but i'm sure somebody with a lot more knowledge in that area will be along with more helpful hints.

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

More than one 58 one tone was made. Dually vs. not.

Maybe your e-brake lever is under the dash because you have an automatic tranny not the 4 speed manual.

Carl,the 4 speed with E-brake could have come from a big truck,like a 1-1/2 or 2 ton.
