I have a friend in town here (yes I have a friend!) who had a tank from a 1937 Chevrolet steam cleaned. He said it's just like new and was told it would NOT need to be coated. The 37 tank should have baffles in it that would make it difficult to clean the whole thing without making access holes in the tank. While it may look good where you can see I'd be suspect of it being clean throughout. I'd like to have more details about the process if you can get them. Maybe a web site to check out?

Keeping the gas tank as full as you can will not stop rust. As you use gas it pulls moisture laden air into the tank.

I was amazed at the difference it made in the way the truck started and ran. I had previously drained and refilled the tank thinking that good enough but the stale fuel varnish was worse than I would have thought. I have the stock behind the seat tank and there are no baffles in it. I am a believer in the process. Again, The shop used steam only on mine. | | |
