When I removed my old transmission the converter was held onto my flywheel with a nut and bolt. My new stall converter has fine threads in it. I ran a bolt thru my flywheel into the threads on my converter. It tightened up real, real tight.
Now that the motor is back I am thinking if I should add a nut to that bolt.
What have you guys done?

rogpatt,

It isn't a normal procedure to add a nut when the fastener is threaded through a piece. The SOP would be to include a lockwasher, or some type of locking compound the the bolt or screw.

It sounds like you are nervous about this. Not every situation calls for a lockwasher, although the flexplate to converter connections I can think of did use them.

If this is going to bug you, and there is ANY access to the area, you could put a drop of 'post assembly' Loctite on the threaded protrusion of the bolt.

Yes I am a bit nervous about this!
I figuered that I did not have to add a nut but I am not a transmission expert so I was not 100% sure. Thanks for you response!

A drop of blue Locktite will do fine.As mentioned, if you can get at the end of the bolts, put a drop on them.If you can back the bolts out,put some on the threads and run it back in.
