I have noticed a thumping on the floor of my 1966 C-10 only while driving in the rain. It does not happen when it is dry, and nothing is striking the floor pan. I have new control arm bushings, upper and lower ball joints and shocks. Could it possibly be a bad spring?

why/how would a spring react to being wet? "nothing is striking the floor pan"? how about water? grin
more likely water hitting the back of the wheel housing, which is the toeboard - prolly a function of the particular tread design picking up lots of water, or the texture of yer roads - undercoat the area?

Water can spray with quite a bit of force when driving through standing water. Try pushing up from beneath where you think the noise is coming from and see if the sheet metal 'pops' when you let off.

Is the thumping accompanied by a shrieking voice saying, "Hey! Stop the truck, @sshole!!!" ?

smile

In all seriousness.. is it a constant 'thump thump thump'? Does it seem to get more frequent the faster you drive, or with increased RPMs?

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.
