Hi All,

My 63 K20 chassis just arrived tonight from Minnesota! Bone stock with all the stuff on it, including 17" one piece wheels! I'm looking forward to getting this project off the ground!! I have a nice 63 cab I bought from "lescot723" and some of the body parts from "amt31" and of course hauling help from "4-5-6 trucks". Another project with its roots grown from the Stovebolt Page!! I just need to finish up my 66 c20 Old Green and then I'll go to town on the 63 K20! Has anyone had any luck using late model 17" truck radials on these old 17" one piece rims? I know they'll need tubes.

JC,
I just went through the same thing with my 62 K20. I tried radials with tubes without success. The truck drove like a paint shaker. I priced bias tires, but the most affordable were Denman (at $750). I decided to get a set of 16" wheels and mount radials because they will clear the brakes and they are readily available at any wrecking yard or tire shop. The shop I was at had about 10 sets laying around from guys who left them after getting custom wheels. Bias tires didn't make sense for me because I drive my truck daily and wanted the better ride of the radials and the added flexibility in case I get a flat down the road. Good luck with your project and let me know if you find a source for a transfer case shift lever boot.
