For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 42 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 42 | Faced with heavy truck freight for new ones, I'm looking into having them made locally. Has anyone done this and what problems lay ahead? The only problem I see is forming the top roll? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 439 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 439 | Usually isn't a big deal if you can find someone with a big enough break. Often the roll is just a piece of pipe welded on top of the bedside. I don't remember what the stake pockets look like on thsoe trucks but if it's square that can be folded up aswell. If not I believe you can buy those separate and just spot weld them on.
Good Luck. | | |
