Does anyone know the Part #'s for the outer and inner front roller wheel bearings for a 51 1/2 ton pickup. I know a place about 30 miles from here who sells bearings of all types but I need a part # for the roller bearing. :confused: Any help would be appreciated.

Can you pull one of the old ones for them to cross reference?

do you have your old bearings? There should be a bearing number on both the inner cup and outer race for both your inner and outer bearings. It should be stamped with the manufactures name.

Your description is a little ambiguous...are you intending on replacing the BALL bearings with tapered ROLLER bearings?

I think the ball bearings would have to be replaced on 'application'...what year and model truck.

The swap to tapered roller bearings would include new cups and cones...bearings and races.

I think your best bet is to do a search in one of the forums. There have been numbers called out for these items, along with seals, but I don't think they are standard industry numbers.

Soneone who has done it will probably pop in and give us both the hot skinny.

I think your best bet, if you are intending on dumping the ball bearings and going with roller bearings would be one of the vendors that sell the complete package...seal and all!

I know vendors sell the roller bearing packages but thought I could purchase them close to home at a much lower cost??? I'll do a more through search on the forum site. Thanks.

I believe they are specifically produced for that application. I don,t think you will find them in the regular bearing suppliers. As you can tell I,m not shure of that & have been noted to be wrong before.

Searched the thread and found previous posts. Also, checked Classic Performance Parts and did a little reading there. From what I have found, most think ball bearings are fine and should work okay on a 51. I guess they should since they have been used for 50+ years. May just buy new ball bearings and the correct grease and keep the older ball bearings after all. Just can't overtighten ball bearings.

Good choice for stock brakes but if you have any plans for a disc upgrade in the future I'd spend the money now for the rollers, you'll need 'em.
