They are Chev's with 366 engines. One is a 1974, the other a 1975. He'd like to convert to electronic ignition. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Who would you try for the parts? I've searched the internet but haven't come up with anything to link to these engines. Thanks in advance for any information.

The advantages of an electronic ignition cannot be overstated.
The first thing I'd do is decide if he wants to scrounge for one or just purchase one. If he wants to scrounge, I'd look for later year models with the same engine but electronic ignition.

I know pertronix sells a kit to convert sort of but I would like to have the whole dist. Anyone know anything about this? I don't think that HEI ever came in a 235 or 260.

He said you have to grind down the boss that seats in the hole for the gear to mesh properly, but they work fine.

I'll pass on the information as I know he'll appreciate it. He will do the conversion, I'm sure.
Thanks again, George | | |
