I have the bed off and now would be a good time. There don't appear to be any real complicated bends in the tubing, but there sure is a big difference between bulk and prebent tubing. I can't say how big a job it is to cut and bend your own tubing. But I can comment on buying and installing pre-cut and bent tubing. I just finished doing that on a 55.2. My guess is that it saved me probably at least half a day of work, maybe more. Plus I didn't have to buy the tubing bending and flaring tools. For me the cost of pre-bent was well worth the time saved. | | |

1948 3/4-Ton 5-Window Flatbed Chevrolet 34 Years. Now with a '61 261, 848 head, Rochester Monojet carb, SM420 4-speed, 4.10 rear, dual reservoir MC, Bendix up front, 235/85R16 tires, 12-volt w/alternator, electric wipers and a modern radio in the glove box.

The main line going back to the rear had to be made of 2 pieces with a union fitting. Other then that I had one piece that fell between lengths so I went with the longer one and made a small coil in that piece. Like Popcorn said It is easy to do. I would suggest a tubing bender but I know of a couple of ways to bend tubing without kinking it and without a bender. Send me and email if you want to know how.

I bought all the tools, a roll of line, plus a number of parts store lines for less than the cost of a kit.
But then it took me a couple Saturdays to get the work done...

If I attempted to bend my own set, I could only imagine how much time I would have spent. The extra $$ was well spent. Now I have more time to spend in my backyard.
