The bearing and the plastic are shattered. the p.o.wired the horn to the outside of the column. any help would be appreciated. thanks Lou. I wont know about them until i re wire all the outside lights. It is the bearing in the plastic piece with the wire on it that goes below or inside the turn signals . and what does the wire hook to. The horn ????? I hope i have cleared up what i am looking to fix. Thanks Lou. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | Lou - the bearing goes into the top of the column, below the big nut that holds the wheel on, the wire goes down the column and out under the dash to plug into the harness [to the horn], prolly where yer current button hooks up - when you push the horn button it puts a ground on that wire to complete the horn circuit

I dont think the p.o. put it back together right at all. thier is probably some parts missing. That is why i was looking for a diagram to see if anything was missing.The wiring is messed up when you hit the brake pedal the left turn signal indicator lights up. that is the next obstacle (wiring ) after i get it to steer.  Thanks Lou. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | sounds like the right order, don't think yer missing anything - what holds the bearing in is light friction fit, the steering shaft inside, the column sleeve outside - never seen any pics of that area, other than maybe the assembly manual
the brake/turn mixup might be in the turn signal harness hookups, the brake light/turn indicator use some of the the same circuit, as the brake lights go thru the turn sig mechanism
