The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop 1960 GMC Carburator?

I just purchased a 1960 GMC C60 farm truck. It runs beuatiful but has a terrible gas leak at the top of the carb float bowl. This is a 305 v6 and it has a holly 1 barrel down draft carb. All my other v6's have stromberg 2 barrels. It pretty grimey yet but I can't seem to see any numbers. Can someone shed some lite on this model of Holley for Me? Knowledgable sources for Kits and nformation? Other suppliers that still have parts for the old v6's. Thanks. Todd

todds - we show Holley model 1904 list number 1915 used on 1959 GMC 305 V-6. The Holley literature doesn't show it for 1960, but it easily could be original. If you view the carburetor such that the word Holley on the bowl is visible, look to your left on the boss of the fuel inlet, and if you have a strong magnifying glass, and a pair of "young eyes" you will see the list number stamped.

Personally, I would suggest replacing both intake and carburetor with the 2 barrel Stromberg if you have them available. If not, parts are available for the Holley.

First off, you Did not buy a 1960 GMC C60, a c60 is a chevy model, you truck would be a 3500, 4000 or 5000 model. do you know which it is? if not whats the vin number on the tag in the door frame? I can tell you a lot by that number. also whats the number on the engine, it could be a 305 B or C, both use a different carb and manifold. Check these page to see were to find the engine number:
