My Grandfather had a 1957 6500 truck that he used around our family's farm. In the mid 80's my Father sold it as he did not feel like keeping up with it any longer. I have since gotten a 1957 6400 but I was hoping to locate the exact truck my Grandfather owned. I have the VIN for the truck but Carfax.com does not track vehicles before 1981. The truck was sold in PA when my father sold it, but it could be anywhere now. I have been told that the DMV would not be helpful in this case. Any suggestions on how to locate the truck would be appreciated.

VIN: 6C57B114662

I'm not sure about PA but in TX you can send in a request form for the registered title holders information. It costs a couple of bucks and you have to state your reason on the form.

It looks like the proper form for your state is http://www.dot10.state.pa.us/pdotforms/dl_forms/dl-135.pdf that I found under Forms on the PA DMV website.

After a few weeks..maybe sooner, you will receive a letter stating the last known registrant of the truck.

That truck is fifty years old in two months. Most states don't keep records more than 10 or 15 years. I wish you luck but this may not be real promising.

It's true. I really don't do anything but browse the Internet looking for trouble...
