Whats kinda problems will I have replacing my stock 3600 front axle with a 3100 front axle. Mostly concerned about the steering box...everything else should be the same...I think.

Try this.

Basically, the flat spot on the top of the axle that contacts the springs is in a different location.

I considered this swap on my '52 3600 and like
TooMany says it will be a direct bolt in swap.
1/2 tons and 3/4 tons used the same front springs from 47 to 55. Also of note...1/2 ton axles used 1/2" u-bolts while 3/4 tons used 9/16" u-bolts.
