Several people told me about a truck for sale close by, so I went for a look today. Not sure what I found. Sign in the window says 1953, but it's a '48. It has a 1 ton bed on it, but the frame is what got me. It appears to be an original frame, but it sticks out about 3 feet behind the bed. The bed side has a new hole cut in it for the gas tank filler. I was wondering if maybe was a 1 1/2 or 2 ton with a 1 ton bed put on it. The body was pretty shot, so the $995 price tag was a little out of my league. Any ideas?

Ok i give up, whats a ton bed? There are frames extentions listed as RPO's in the build book, i dont know if there was a 3' one, but could be.

A 1-ton bed is 9 feet long. That would put 11 feet of frame behind the cab. If it is the original cab you can ID it by the serial number. If it is a 1-ton it should have 8 lug wheels. Bigger trucks had 10 lug, though only 5 show on front.

It wasn't a frame extension. There were no boards in the bed and you could see the frame was all one piece. It's a wierd set-up!
