By chance does anyone know why new door latch parts will not let my door close tight, drivers side? Replaced all the latch parts, door and on the cab; it stays open about 1/2 inch there are no ajustment???
It stayed much tighter with the old stuff, just the handle would not stay up?????? Worked on the door all day today, took the latch off and on four times still won't latch tight. Finally quite working on it at Dark Thirty.

I would return the the new latch to the seller and buy a repair spring for your old latch- it keeps the handle from sagging. I've had an experience with these new latches- they don't work with a poop

I'm about at that point. However the old door latch has about run it's limit. I should find a good drivers door with all the parts on it and call it good.
Most of the replacement parts I have bought so far, have had to be reworked somehow.

My advice to you is find a set of used ones. I ordered new latches for my 48 and I spent 2 days trying to get them to work with no luck. The problems that your describing sounds like what I went through. I had to put my old ones back on cuase I couldn't figure the news ones out. Phoned the company were I ordered them from and was told that I was the only one that has ever complained about the latches and that it was my fualt why they didn't work. Good luck!

Were those partscounterparts from asia by chance? Seems a lot of sales houses push that line.

yep, I had counterparts latches. I sent them back, and for once the customer service guy admitted I wasn't the only one having trouble. Usually, like some else said, it's always "we haven't had any complaints, you must be doing something wrong". I finally had enough of trying to get them to work right (by the way, the ones I had would not allow the door to open when completely shut, and the door had to be slammed like heck to shut. So, that could be adjustment right? Wrong. I put on my original latch and it worked fine. I'm still looking for a driver's side latch.

I replaced the old latch. The New stuff would not completely shut even if you slammed the door over till the glass breaks. The old latch is worn out but the new handle looks good. The old door has been worked over so many times; it must have been a stereo break-in class vehicle.
But the door will now close all the way. I did keep the striker plate on.
The parts shelf I have now started with damaged counterparts not returnable is growing.
I slammed that door so much the neighbors were all outside looking at me and laughing. I guess it is good to have neighbors who will laugh at your cussing moments with you.
