Have a question as to the fittings on the tank. My son has a 49 chevrolet wagon that we are building. The gas tank wasn't in the car when we got it, however we did get the gas tank with the car. The tank is moulded to fit around the spare tire housing which is right under the rear floor of the wagon. and on the opposite end sort of moulded to clear the rear end housing. On the back side of the tank (facing the rear bumper) near the top of the tank is a female brass fitting, and on the bottom of the tank is hole that looks like it was plugged. My assumption is that the bottom hole is where the fuel line should attach and then go to the fuel pump. The other fitting on the back side and near the top I'm assuming is a vent or return line fitting. Then I thought well maybe that hole on the bottom is where a drain cock is suppose to thread in, and the other fitting near the top is actually the fuel outlet line. Just would like some feedback to set me in the right direction, before we mount the tank and run lines. Hoping someone in here may have or have had a wagon or sedan delivery and was familiar with this particular tank.

It has a tube inside that will go down inside the tank to just above the bottom of the inside of the tank. Be sure to put an inline filter between the tank and the fuel-pump so it will stop crud from plugging the pump and carb. Carry a duplicate spare filter with you
