The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline parking brake problem

I dont know where else to ask this ?
I have to replace the cables on my parking brake but the cross member of the frame has been moved forward a few inches to support the transmission for some reason. The brake parts that are bolted to the frame and holds the lever are too near the trans to be put back the way it was.

Is there a custom parking brake set-up that can be used?

It's just the parking brake? Get a 1 foot section of a 4x4 and throw it under the wheel when you park. Problem solved!

darn! Why didnt I think of that. Duh!

Easiest thing to do is update to a 66-up setup, doesn't use an idler or crossmember setup, just cables. Brian

I already have the new rear cables. I think I can set it up. Where could I see a sketch or picture of the 66 cables etc? that would help decide what's the best way to go. Jim

why wont those darn graemlins work for me?

I started to suggest geeting cables for a 3/4 ton but then I saw you already have new cables. The other thing you might be able to do is to extend their length with some threaded rod.

I have it set up temporarly--if it works well it can stay if not its back to -- scratch head pace up and down take a break till the bulb goes on.
