How does someone go about finding out if a truck he has is worth working on or if its just parts or should I call the scrap metal man? I have a truck that I got in 75 drove for a few years, now it just sits, any Ideas?

That would be a project that would be over my head. Only, cause I just don't have the experience to do the body work. Other than a few rusted areas, it doesn't appear all that bad.

I've seen people start with a whole lot less. So, I certainly wouldn't call the scrap metal man.

If I weren't going to do anything with it, I'd sell it to someone that would.

where is the best place to find a buyer? how do you set price?

I would start here.

Perhaps post pictures in the panel/burb section and get an idea of what it might be worth. I would also check out E-Bay and Craigslist.org.

Between the three, you should be able to come up with some reasonable idea of what it might be worth.

As far as selling it, once I determined the approx. value, I would place it here in the "for-sale" section and see what happens.

I had real good luck selling the one truck I've sold through E-Bay, and have had really good experiences buying through Craigslist.org.

one would be surprised about how much nicer it would look with a coat of satin paint too.. of course, in the long run, someone would have to get it all off ..

That panel looks to be in alright shape. Way to good to be made into new honda's. Here is at the stovebolt is a good place to advertise also ebay works good to. But if you've got the space and a set of wrenches you should start working on it.

55 first series panels are pretty rare. now don't take that to mean they are worth any more. but you shouldn't have too hard of a time finding someone to take it off your hands. i'd say 400$ would be fair.

Your truck brings back memories. I had a 55 1st panel. There were only 750 made so they are few and far between. If you weren't so far away AND if I wanted another project we'd probably be talking turkey. I follow eBay all the time looking for a one to replace my old 55. In it's current condition I would say you have a $1500 to $2500 vehicle there. Possibly higher. The RR wheel you refer to is probably the stock rim/spare tire. Do you have the hood? Take more pics (show all angles including the interior & dash) & list it on eBay. Put a $2500 reserve on it with a 99 cent starting bid and I think you'll sell it. Good luck.
