I have a VIN plate that needs repainting. I asked them if they could repaint it, or press the same VIN numbers on a repo plate (that I would provide or they could provide), or would they make me a new plate. Also I believe it was moved to underneath the top of the door frame from the origional location. It could have been moved from an other vehicle even.

At that time, people were building bogus cars and optioning them as they saw fit trying to pass off as original. Since then, I read that they drew a hard line on that practice and really want much proof of ownership to make sure they are not helping someone legalize a stolen car. Even in the 80s the tag was pricey. I am not surprised that they did not want to finish someone elses repro tag but I am very surprised that they shut you down with no interest in making another ID plate for you. I guess I need to reconsider my reccomendations. | | |
