Hello,
I have a 1950 3100 with a stock rear end. I am replacing the brakes and I have a question since my truck hasn't been on the road since 1991. Can someone take some pictures of there stock brakes and send them to me or post them? I'm not sure how the e-brakes hook up. I'm sure they are simple, but most of the original parts are gone. I have bought new springs and such but can't remember how the e-brake was hooked up. I have looked at the 1950 shop manual, and the photo's in there are a little vague. Any help would be appreciated.

Mike

Mike,
do you have the Chev Truck Shop manual? There are a number of photos in there of the Huck rear brakes including one illustrating the emerg brake adjustment. What details are you missing?

Yes, I have the chevy truck shop manual, but the pics don't really show what I need. What connects the e-brake cable to the brake shoe?

Mike,
here is a diagram from the from the "Online Chevy manual project". This is pretty well what mine looks like, I think.

Mike,
does this make sense to you now? If not, I can explain. The setup is really quite simple.

Yes, these are exactly what I was looking for. The GMC diagram is closer to what I have. The 1 ton diagram does not have the cone shaped springs that help hold the brake shoe on. But it does have the picture of the parts I need. Part #5.150-extension, part #5.151-spring, part #5.149-lever, part #5.158-bolt, part #8.932-l/washer, part #8.917-l/nut are the parts I am looking for. Does anybody know where to get these? Guys, I sincerely Thank You for your help!

Can someone tell me why, when I click on the diagram from the oldgmctrucks site, I end up with a small half page image that is unreadable. I am sure this is not the way it behaves for everyone.

truckernix,

If you hold your cursor on the document for a moment, icons will appear. The icon in the lower right will full size the page with a click of the mouse....
