Motor has pipe in it that goes through the block and inside the V shape between the heads, on top of the block- a cylinder attaches to the pipe. THe machine shop broke this thing and I need another one. Checker, AutoZone and Carquest don't know what it is. Harmon's and LMC Truck do not have it in their catalogs. What is it's name and any idea where I can get one ? -Engine is for a 1962 Chevy C-20. -John [email protected]

It has a cap...it is where you add oil to the engine. This link shows a picture of the engine. http://chevy.tocmp.com/1955truck2shop/55ctsm0643.htm Stuart | | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 305 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 305 | ya i think it is the oil filler tube

The machine shop should find you a replacement at no charge, since they broke it. Gonna have to comb the salvage yards and swap meets to find a new one. Can you post a pic so we can see how it's broken? Maybe it can be repaired.

the question is what the heck ya doin putting a 55 265 in a 62 truck? the 265 is inferior to the 283, and there should be 283's available around you, which would be the correct engine for yer 62

As for the part your looking for I believe that what you describe is the oil/fume separater that is held into the block by a slight press fit and one support strap that had a 1/4" screw in it, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Besides that, since you're not putting in a correct engine anyway, you can build a 350 for less than a 265.
