is it possible to remove the 3 speed colum shift tranny in my 51, 3100, without removing the motor?, if so how?,,thanks,, ron

Just undo the torque tube bell from the transmission and slide it back. Then you can unbolt the u'joint and seperate it from the transmission. Support the torque tube with a jack while doing this. Raise the tube enough to clear the trans. Remove the four bolts holding the transmission, (two inside the clutch housing) and pull it out.
