If it came from across the big water, it probably won't be a standard stateside thread..NF or NC. This is just a guess, its been a bad week for me! Don't items that are imported into this country have to have the country of origin noted on them somewhere.

The powers that be were getting complaints from the business community about the cost of stamping or engraving "Made in Japan or Made in China, etc." on products they imported. In order to make an extra 5 cents on each product they got permission to substitute a label which as noted is easily removed so that the product appears to be of US origin. Pretty shady deal but it'll stay that way until folks stop compaining about abortion, gay marriage and that kind of stuff and start complaining about rules and laws that make losing their jobs overseas easier.
