i have a 54 chevy need a shop to restore my chevy near or around houston

There are nine pages of body shops listed in the metro yellow pages. Make some calls or visit some car shows and ask questions. I am doing my own work so I cannot recommend any one shop over another.

What part of Houston are you in? And how much of a restore are you doing?

im in channelview, and i would like to do a frame up, you know do it right the first time the truck has had some repairs done to it but it look like something i could do and thats really not good enough. i'll take the truck as far as i have to but id like to stay in houston so i can see it when i come home (i drive a truck) from work. i only wish i had the time and space to work on this truck its been my dream for a very long time but 1 week @ home a month doesnt help and i've seen the yellow pages thats the problem it seems that any idiot with a wrench and a hammer calls himself a profecional im looking for some references/recommendations if you cant help why post but thanks for the imput

I am tring to get ahold of a freind on mine in Houston. He is a dealership service manager and prob. knows a good bodyshop for your needs.

Go check out Jeff Pate's shop; the name is Classic cars of Houston. He's in Bellaire. You should be able to get a map from the internet from his phone # 713-838-9700. He has a good mechanic, an excellent body shop guy and a shop stuffed full of cars he is working on so you can see his work. He can do just about anything you want.

I also was given a very favorable reference to a body shop in NW Houston called "Concourse Body Works", but I haven't seen the place yet. Their phone # is 713-461-2335.
Just a warning though; it could easily take 500 or 1,000 hours of labor to do a frame off, plus many thousands of dollars worth of parts. You could problably buy a truck that had already been restored by someone else for half of what it will cost to do yours.

i will check them out i was looking to spend about 20,000 for the project with me doing some of the work but i really dont have a choice i dont have the space or the know how to do the job right i know i can strip the frame but i still have to take it to some one to sandblast and powdercoat if i get rid of my exercise machine for $200 if your interested i will have the other side of the garage but its olny a two car garage any ideas will be welcomed

I'm recycling an old post to see if anyone has had any good experiences recently with body shops in the Houston area. I have a '52 that is finally back running (and stopping) and ready for body work, but I unfortunately don't have the space or time to beat it out myself.

I have checked out Classic Cars of Houston. WOW! Jeff Pate was really nice and gave me a grand tour of his shop (more like a complex) even though it quickly became apparent that we were on two completely different planets in terms of what I needed (basic cab on body work) compared to what he specializes in (top end show quality restorations).

I was looking for a hydraulic pump/hose specialty shop for another project at lunch today and stumbled on this 65,000 sq ft hot rod shop that had about 30 projects in various stages in the back. Huge place and I've not used them, would recommend you go visit Will Patterson 281-251-4333 at Rehab Garage. They do everything in house, frame up ....except engine machine work. He is doing 18 (yes 18) 47-53 GM trucks for a business..one at a time. Had 2 of 'em started in the back. I'm glad I already have mine, think he may corner the market in our area. He understands classics. Please let us know how you make out.
