Is this correct? Second , does any one know off hand what to torque my mains, and jurnals to. If you did'nt notice , I have had little MAYDAY, with my 41 pu., Since I have the 235 half disassembled , and it seems that I don't have the oil presure that I once did , I would check the mains. If you think I should look for anything else while working on it please mention. Thanks Don

If the engine is torn down to the block, go ahead and change the cam bearings. Cam bearings, correctly sized mains and a new oil pump will bring the pressure back to between 30-45 PSI where it should be. Don't forget the rod bearings while your at it. Its best to have the crank turned .010" undersize and new bearings fitted since you're in there.
The .0015"-.003" is correct clearance for main and rod bearings on 55-62 235 engines. .002" is optimal. Check your manual, but I think main bearings are torqued to 90-95 ft-lbs, rods are 40-45 ft-lbs or so. Somebody else will clarify Im sure.
good luck

The rods are 35-45 ft/lbs. Is this a 216 or 235? what year? The reason I ask isn't that there is a difference on what I have told you, it's just that since you are this far in there are other things that you can do to improve your engine, just depends on what you have for what you can/want to do.
