For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 42 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 42 | I have a 1950 3800 1 ton dually. The doors have wing vents. Gping through various manuals/catalogs, I have the impression that 1950 trucks did NOT have wing vents.
My family is original owner (grandfather bought it new), i suppose being a daily driver on the ol ranch the doors could have been replaced.
Thanks Boom!

My Information shows that wing vents weren't in the doors until the 51' model year, not sure if it apply to the 1 ton models. Did you check your VIN, could be that your truck was registered as the year it was purchased (some states did that) but was actual a 1951 model year truck. My 52' was actually made in December of 1951 but is registered as a 52'

The vent windows were installed in '51 as a replcement for the left (driver side) side vent in front of the door. If you have the vent, you shouldn't have the vent windows. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 223 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 223 | Also if the doors have push button outside handles, they are 52 or newer. '51 was the only year with wing windows and turn down handles. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 42 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 42 | Stovebolters Rock!
boltare and Nifty50, great insight.
1) No crotch cooler on my "1950" 2) The door handles are the old turn down style
So i suppose I really have a 1951 1 ton dually 3800 series titled in 1950?
The id plate on the left driver door reads "6HSK2192" however,
We're original owners (grandfather purchased), but the pink slip is a duplicate. Title Shows 1950, 6 cyl, 8800 GVW etc, but checking the VIN number - i is for an old 1980 Ford truck...which we used on the ranch..... :-)
I do have the last license plate issued. CALIF plate issued in 1963. I suppose I can work with CALIF dmv to get title VIN# fixed. Should be a fun dealing with DMV.

A door swap or serial number plate swap both seem possible explanations.
