Went to several parts house, including NAPA, with no luck for a rebuild kit. They say they don't make em anymore.
True?
What's my next move then?
And what would have been the original equipment fot the last year of the 235?

Chev's of the 40's lists rebuild kits for the two state pumps....not as new as '62 and not listed by pump mfg.
For the cost of a kit, if available, I would think the the wisest choice would be to leave the rebuilds to the re-builders and pick up a new or rebuilt unit in the box. This is one of those things I don't feel it's worth my time dinking with, but thats my opinion!

Who would you go to to get something original in appearance.
I understand that the new pumps are crimpted (sp)
so not sure it would look right.
thanks | | | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 Bolter | | Bolter Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 | you might contact these folks link I sent mine off about 2 yrs ago to them, all I did was bolt it back on and it has ran great ever since. they were easy to talk to and answer all questions, I think I paid about 60 bucks plus shipping,, has been awhile but they treated me right,, mine was for the rocherster carb on my 235,(58) on my 52, seems like ever body hates them but mine has ran great.. good luck

I am not sure. I always have to remember their are folks who what to restore to factory, so sometimes the advice doesn't apply.
As I look at the pictures in the Chev's book, all the two stage pumps are assembled with screws. I think any auto parts store would be able to supply you with the proper pump, probably put together with screws just like from Detroit.
Any rebuildable unit would probably not be crimped, or mashed together...just screwed!
Your local auto parts store might surprise you on these items. You think they are for your old Bolt, but they also fit a bazillion other things, and the stores, or warehouses, keep them on the shelf.

I just E-shopped at Kragen. A fuel pump for a '62 pickup with 235 and vacuum wipers...$27.99 clams....with screws. Although Kragen isn't my store of choice, this sort of gives you a feel for what is out there.

Talk to Stacy the owner he has shelves full of new old stock fuel pumps and probably rebuild kits also. This guy has 9 warehouses full of NOS parts for GM Fomoco and Mopar.

The Factory Assembly Manual shows a single stage pump for all models. Obviously the wipers needed some help and along came the two-stage. If the one I have (and I don't know the vintage) has a new look-a-like-, I shouldn't fret too much. And for $30 bucks...
