I recently installed a 58' 261 into my 55' 1st series 3100. The fan blades look like they will go into the radiator. Is there a shorter water pump shaft or is there a differnce in fans from the original engine and the 261. The 261 came out of a larger truck, I think it was a (viking). Not exactly sure of the model but it was a 58'.

It's a common problem that now has an easy fix. Several vendors sell modified water pumps with a shorter shaft. We used to have to do them ourselves. You still can if you can find a 292 Ford pulley.

Thanks for the help. Now the silly question. What size engine came in the 55 1st series, 3100?
