I'm ready to start tearing into it but my work area is not close to being ready for it haha. I was out looking at the truck and when I opened the hood I realised that there are holes on the left side leading into the cab and im not sure what they are for. I was thinking maby a heater or something? Well anyway were going to keep the original engine and fix it up and i was wondering what an original engine will look like thanks in Advance.

I would suggest that you get a shop manual and possibly an assembly manual. Oh, and a copy of "How To Restore Your Chevy Truck". You will find these to be very informative to how things should go together.

I went to e-bay and typed in chevy 235 and there were several pictures of 235s and some 216s by mistake. Your truck should have a 216 if original, if not maybe a 235.

joker, thanks for the pic's. Im talking about the holes on the far left side of the first picture joke posted.
While im asking questions, im trying to figure out what that small button by the pedels, from right to left there is: that starter button, gas, brake, clutch, some button, e-brake. I am new to restoring cars so i'm sorry if these questions are dumb.
Ill try and get Pic's of my truck soon.

I think that we're confused.
Are you or are you not talking about the holes in the firewall on the passenger side?
If you are indeed talking about these holes, then you are looking at where the heater mounts.
If they are on the driver's side, then they could be for just aboutanything from the choke/throttle knobs, to wiring for various things.

The foot switch to the far left switches the beams from high to low and back.

Just so that you know, most of us treat our trucks like boats; the "right" and "left" sides of things are from the point of view of a person sitting in the cab looking out the windshield. Some of us will even use nautical terms (e.g. Fore/Aft, Starboard/Port) to describe things. I've got the same holes in my firewall on the starboard side. I haven't gotten around to putting a heater in yet.  | | |
