on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 181 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 181 | I spent the last three days sitting in my patrol car watching the road department pave a stretch of road. It's funny how you can drive down a road many times and not see what you see when you sit in one spot for an hour. Anyway, I came across two, yes two, 60-66 Chevy short fleetside beds that found their demise as trailers. I nearly wept. To see such sought after rides turned to that. Maybe I will go save those trailers and return the beds to thier rightful place on a truck again. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 310 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 310 | Same here, farmer need a flat bed so the box is put on the ground and by the time the sides start hanging sideways you know another box is gone. But at least the truck is still running after 45 years. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 | Yea Kruizeag,Virginia is loaded with old iron.My buddy has a place outside of Farmville Va.and I just love to ride the back roads with him looking for old trucks, tractors and toys.Long Island NY has been just about picked clean.

Rust-free quarters, straight tail gate, chrome bumper, diamond-plate bed, and the dude won't sell the whole truck. I ravaged the thing for my '62 Suburban.
I run a swap meet every month, and bought a '63 Ford pick-up box trailer to haul the gear. Kind rough, but with suede black paint, it looks okay...
But I'm REALLY thinking I'd like to go get the bed off that truck and make a trailer out of it, and pull a matching trailer behind my Suburban. Even after writing this down and seeing it in print, it doesn't seem like a bad idea!
