Tiny (Stovebolter 8511) suggested that I contact AACA, which I did. Got plenty of info. Klaxons were aftermarket horns and sought after by Packard, Nash, Cadillac, etc. owners. Best of the horns that could be had = $30.00 then, or over $600.00 today. AACA sent info on how to tune the horns and routine maintenance. Thanks for the link, Tiny! This indeed is a good list!

I went there and was routed to AACA where I got the Klaxon info. Chevies used smaller klaxon horns as standard equipment until the late 20's. The larger, Brass Klaxons were aftermarket items. These horns were featured in a Band Piece / March written by Henry Fillmore in 1930 for the Cincinnatti Automobile show. It was called "The Klaxon - March of the Automobiles". The only other piece of music with a car horn in it (that I know of) would be "An American in Paris" - by Gershwin. Regards, BW | | |
