After a long winter (and for some of you, perhaps a few years of it) of wrenching, welding and knuckle-busting hard work, it’s now time to update your Gallery page. Peggy says that she now has some time to put them in there. So this is your chance to update pictures and especially the text to your page. Remember, the more you tell us about what you've gotten done, tried, added, taken off -- the better it will be for who are searching the internet to find you! Perhaps this may be their hope or encouragement for what THEY are trying to do, too.

That’s how I started the last time and it didn’t really work out the way I had planned it. It didn’t work at all. frown

We have about 11.000 members and only ±1.600 Bolts in the Gallery. Some members have two or more Bolts (some have six or more!) in the Gallery. So what's happening to the rest?

Not done yet? No problem. Certainly, you’ve seen my pile of rust and rotting wood. There is no way that yours is worse than that.

Getting sick of it? Happens all the time. It is kinda natural for humans -- disappointment after disappointment will give you the idea that you have to give up. STOP! Get away from it for a month, a year if you have to. Start at the other end and work from there until you’re back at that same spot again and fix it! We have a few in the Gallery who have been working for ten years ... but they finally get it F I N I S H E D !

Running out of money? Happens all the time, too. I have no idea how I’m going to pay for anything. I’ll work around it until I do. I keep my eyes open for possible solutions and I’ll get Truck’26 done. I still have 20 years until she’s 100 and has to be on the road again.

How old is yours? Oh, then you got some time left wink

In the meantime, get some pictures together and show it off as it is now. I already won a Stovebolt prize with the first pictures I took of it. We don’t need a complete book, just some lines will do fine. Have a look at this one. Gallery You can do that!

Hey, the Stovebolt is about sharing and fun. Share some pictures of yours and make this the biggest gallery of vintage GMC’s and Chevy’s trucks there is or ever will be.

Thanks

Richard

My Bolt went to a hot rod cruise nite last nite. It was kind enough to take me along...AND bring me back. It even provided shelter from the scattered showers and a comfy seat from which I could watch the rest of the proceedings.

The pics (including the ol' Ugly Truck) are here:
http://www.chevyasylum.com/cruisin06/060608/060608.html

I've been workin on a different project for a while and haven't done much with the UT other than drive it. But it's sure been a reliable ol' critter.

Hi Truck'26, I have so busy doing other things, that I have not made the time to get my pictures organized and posted. My bolts are just sitting while I finish my building, as I do not want to get started until I have a place to work on them. Working at least one full time job, taking care of the yard, and having 3 kids, I have had more than my share of interuptions.
I have also been adding to my stock with the purchase of Carl Riemans '42 and another '41 parts truck, which I still have to bring home. Camping season is here, so I have a couple of long weekends planned that will add more to the delays.
I do really want to get my pictures posted, and have set a mental deadline for this fall or sooner. If all goes well, I hope to have pictures in the Gallery by late August. I have not yet decided on whether to use a picture post site, or make my own web page, as I think that is another way to do it, and would be a better choice. I just need the time to research it a little further, then develope a plan. Whatever I create and post, I want it to be easy to edit and add to.
Be patient, I will get it done.

John

Thanks Guys,
Ray how is Rufus getting along? Never mind I'll do the website, the bad thing about that is that I'll loose an hour at least. grin Ray has a great website guys. Ray I might steel some pictures and put a page together for you and use ugly truck and a link to your pages of course.
Hi J Lucas, I know, too much to do and only so many hours per day. We'll wait, impatiently .
And for the rest of you = 11.000-1.500-2 = 9.498 bolters; We would like to see some pictures and of course you're all busy, who isn't nowadays, but the next time you can save a few minutes, think about your Bolt page Please.
Don’t worry I keep reminding you until you all gave your little contribution to the Stovebolt pages.

Have a good one

Richard

I haven't done any updates on the website...matter of fact, I've cut it back quite a bit due to circumstances beyond my control. (Long story)

I've been working on Rufus (the other project I alluded to, a 29 Model A closed cab pickup) slowly for the last month or so. I'm still messing around with the wood parts in the cab and top, but makin good progress. I've done most of the fitting and now I'm doing the actual assembly.

I also did some checkin on the motor and found that it turns over fine, has a crankcase full of oil and compression in all cylinders. So I've ordered some motor parts and have been nibbling away at that part of the project.

So I've been doin stuff, but haven't made enough progress to warrant a web site update. Thanks for askin, tho.

Thanks, I really appreciate it and it is such a good looking one! Have a look guys a real neat machine.
I was wondering if this "nagging" did any good, but a few over the line already. I'm afraid I keep at it then grin
Now tell the rest, was it tough to do? Less effort than changing a tire? or more smile

I got stea up there now and I just got Brendan's in the "mail." His will go up on Monday!

That would be amazing if we were to get so many more!

I'm working on some slide-show software. Maybe down the road, we'll be able to sit back and just look at 'em all ... with music !! ... and even the info.

Not yet, tho ...

Over the last couple of days I've updated the web site to show what's been happening with Ol' Rufus.

The new stuff starts here:
http://www.chevyasylum.com/29modela/29modela03.html

I'm on my way to a radiator shop to have that part checked out. I've also gotta get the beast out to the driveway so I can flush the water jackets in the block. Last nite I discovered that at least part of the water passages are full of debris and acorn shells. It wouldn't surprise me if a mouse made his uptown condo in the block (although I can't smell anything) while the truck was sitting behind a barn in Minnesota. But there's some progress being made.
